21 Jun A Dog Breed That No Longer Exist
A Fascinating Breed
The Norfolk Spaniel, pictured to the left, is a breed which has been extinct since the early 1900s. The 1861 book “House Dogs and Sporting Dogs” calls the Norfolk Spaniel “perhaps the commonest breed in England.” This may have led to its demise. It seems as though the liver-and-white dogs became so common that the public no longer saw them as a specific breed. The Norfolk Spaniel along with other medium-legged spaniels got rolled into a new breed: the English Springer Spaniel.
